If you are a musician and want to play some tune exactly "as is", then this program will prove very useful for you. It can reduce the speed of any sound file without losing its pitch; that is, you will hear exactly the same sounds as in the original file, only slower. This way, you can grasp and practice any difficult musical passage. Also, the program can modify the song's pitch without altering its tempo. This feature can be useful for you if you are a singer and need to adapt a song to your voice tone. The program also has an amazing feature called Sniffer Mode, that detects automatically any music file being played in your browser, and can extract and save it to your system so you can edit it later using the program. For example, you can watch a music vide on YouTube and download the soundtrack at the same time. The program is also useful for translators and transcription makers since it lets them to hear difficult passages at low-speed.
The program needs WinPCap to run properly. If it is not installed in your system, the installation wizard will install it along with the program's files. Also, to get access to the download link of the demo version, you need to give your e-mail address. The demo version runs only during 240 minutes (that is, four hours). If you find the program useful and intend to use it longer, then you need to purchase a license.

Songsurgeon is a great program, especially for singers that use background tracks. You can change pitch, tempo and use the 32 channel equalizer to customize the sound specifically for optimum playback on your sound system. The program has a ripper and a batch converter that lets you covert a number of tracks from one format to another without having to do them one at a time. Another feature, you can change pitch for just one section of a track. I have one track that I would have to start at one volume and then manually reduce the volume later because it got to loud. A real problem if I was by myself but with Songsurgeon I was able to increase the volume in that section without changing the volume in the rest of the track. I also like the fact that there is a feature I can use to score music and print it out. All in all, this is an awesome program and I highly recommend it! Smile
